⌬ ZOETROPE FAQ

A zoetrope vinyl record uses a sequence of still images printed in a circle and an optical shutter effect from a camera or strobe light to create moving animations as the record spins. To the naked eye, the rotating images look blurry, but a digital camera or flashing light freezes each frame in place to reveal the illusion of motion

How to View the Animation

• Turn on the Turntable: Place your record on the player and set it to the specific RPM noted on the record label (usually 33⅓ or 45 RPM).
• Use a Phone Camera: Open your video recording app, set it to 24 or 30 frames per second, lower the exposure/brightness slightly, and hold the phone 6 to 12 inches above the record.
• Watch the Screen: Look through your phone or device screen rather than directly at the platter to see the moving artwork come to life
